This event will celebrate the great work done in the Weymouth Public Schools. Beginning four years ago with a single Lesley Institute for Trauma Sensitivity (LIfTS) course taught by a Lesley Adjunct, the Weymouth School District has embraced safe, supportive, trauma-sensitive practices. From central office to building leadership, the district supports trauma-sensitive work by providing numerous courses for staff and piloting leadership workshops.
The impact on day-to-day practice is illustrated in the action research projects completed by teachers from preschool to high school, who earned their trauma and learning certificates. The variety of these efforts showcases an approach that is not a one-size-fits-all but rather a process of small targeted actions educators take to address the urgencies they face in their schools.
