Most literature and resources on anti-racism work in schools focus on racially diverse school settings, often leaving teachers and school leaders in majority white districts with few tools to address these issues with their students. This presentation and discussion will offer perspectives and concrete tools for successful antiracist work in these contexts.
Dr. David Nurenberg, Lesley associate professor, 21-year veteran high school English teacher, and author of What does Injustice Have to do with Me? Engaging Privileged White Students with Social Justice (Rowman & Littlefield, 2020), will talk about why anti-racism work is necessary with affluent white students, and what unique strategies are most effective with this population.
He will then moderate an open discussion for attendees to share of best practices from their own experience.
