On Wednesday, President Janet L. Steinmayer notified the Lesley community that Nov. 3 of this year would be celebrated as a university holiday to make room for Election Day voting, volunteering and contemplation.

“Regardless of whether you plan to vote early, by mail or in person on Election Day, I encourage you all to use the holiday to participate in the election and as a day of reflection and rest," she wrote in an email to the community.

President Steinmayer also announced two opportunities for the university community to come together over the presidential election. At 6 p.m., Nov. 3, the university will kick off a virtual gathering to watch and discuss the election returns, while Nov. 4, also starting at 6 p.m., will see a community-wide conversation regarding the results, as they stand.

Though Lesley will celebrate this year’s Election Day as an academic holiday, some essential functions will continue on Nov. 3, her email indicated.
