Student Record Security
The Registrar's Office maintains academic records both on and off-premise in fire-resistant cabinets. Beginning in 1986, all academic records were put on microfilm and this security measure continues annually as students graduate or discontinue study. Microfilm records are maintained both on campus in the Registrar's Office and in duplicate with a microfilm vendor.
In the event Lesley University discontinues operations, arrangements would be made with the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education, One Ashburton Place, Room 1401, Boston, MA 02108-1696, 617.994.6950, for the filing and maintenance of academic records. The University would take reasonable steps to notify current and former students about the arrangements for the filing and maintenance of academic records. In addition, the University’s accreditor, the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), would be notified about the filing and maintenance of academic records in the event the University discontinues operations.
Both the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education and NECHE post information about obtaining access to records from closed institutions on their websites:
Massachusetts Department of Education: Information about Obtaining Access to Records
NECHE: Information about Merged, Closed, and Previously Accredited Institutions
In the event Lesley University decides to cease operations or discontinue a program before all enrolled students have completed their program of study, the University will implement a teach-out plan in accordance with the requirements of its accreditor, NECHE, and may also consider refunds to students as appropriate.

The University will also follow NECHE's Considerations When Closing an Institution of Higher Education (PDF), and the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education’s Notice of Closure Guidelines for Massachusetts Independent Institutions [PDF] in the event it decides to cease operations.
